Q: How do I know if my windows or doors are energy efficient?
U-factor
Simply put, the U-factor measures how well a window retains heat in your home. It is a measure of the total heat transfer from indoor air to outdoor air through a window or door. A lower number indicates a higher insulating capacity. This is an especially important measure in climates with colder winters.
